When the Fell Sign Fell
Imagine living on Fell Street. It doesn't sound like the most ideal place to live. Actually....it's just "Fell", no street or road or boulevard. No one knows the title of this place, it could be a circle after all. The one thing everyone knows is that in this case, Fell fell. At least they had a backup plan in place just in case one of the signs did what it said it would do.
It looks like they really didn't want anyone to get confused with the signs here and put up double just in case one of them, by some strange occurrence...fell.
Somehow This Just Makes Perfect Sense
What happens when you combine the ads for one of the world's largest gas companies and those of a cleaning product? You get a disturbing marketing message that somehow makes perfect sense. Divided exactly in two and placed on top of each other, somehow the slogans match up perfectly to say "Our goal is to completely kill the planet and 99% of bacteria on it for the lowest price". Coincidence or are they teaming up?
The color schemes and then branding somehow even lines up perfectly, you would almost be led to believe that it was done intentionally.
Somebody Was a Good Boy
This doggo seems to be quite the cutie, although a bit on the poorly behaved side. What is the most comical part of all? It looks like he just received a Certificate of Dog Obedience Training. Well, it looks like something didn't go exactly as planned in the training. Maybe he was just trying to prove a point by ripping up and chewing apart his newly earned certificate.
To top everything off, this dog looks quite shameless in his act. He is almost proud of his mischievous behavior and excited to show his parents exactly what he thought of his new training.
Stubbornness Kills, Even if You Deny It
Most people do not want to do what is necessary to protect their health by taking the needed preventative tests. This billboard is trying to show the risks of not taking the necessary precautions by telling people that "this year thousands of men will die from stubbornness". It looks like one person decided to show just how stubborn they are by writing in big letters "NO WE WON'T" right underneath the sign.
It is difficult to tell if they are trying to be funny, ironic, or if they are simply oblivious to their utter and complete stubbornness. Hopefully, their stubbornness will not kill them.
It Doesn't Take a Genius to See the Irony Here
At first glance, this just looks like a normal title of a news article talking about a recent study that found that lower cognitive ability is linked to non-compliance with social distancing guidelines. However, once you go down to the comments section, you find the irony. A man writes that he does not know what "lower cognitive ability" means, but he definitely will not be wearing a face mask anytime soon.
This is the perfect example of when someone should google something before posting a comment for the entire internet (and thereby the whole world) can see. You wouldn't want to make a fool of yourself like this man.
Back to School for Teachers and Parents
Do you think this is an ironic statement by some employees with a good sense of humor or a simple mistake? Either way, it's hard not to laugh when you see this Back to School display. It looks like back to school time means alcohol time for some people. Whether it is for the teachers with their stressful work year ahead or the parents celebrating some alone time, it is quite funny.
Maybe they ran out of all their Back to School supplies and had to fill the shelves with something else. The only thing they could find was alcohol and they didn't have time to switch the sign at the top.
Is It Made in China or Not?
This person seemed to be very proud to buy a product that was not made in China, so proud that they chose something that had "NOT made in China" written boldly across the plank of wood, with the background of an American flag. Where is the irony you might ask? Take a look in the bottom right corner of the product. You will see a tiny little sticker admitting the sad and hypocritical truth.
The little sticker in the corner says that this sign, ironically, was indeed made in China, despite what is written in large print across the product itself.
They Could Never Understand Believing a Lie
It seems like just about every belief system thinks that every other one is horribly wrong and one big lie. This church went so far as to write a sign outside for all to see saying "What if you've believed the same lie your whole life?" The comical part seems like they haven't considered that perhaps they are the ones believing a lie and not the other way around.
The saddest part of this sign is that the people who made it will probably never understand the joke. At least all the people who drive by will see it and probably giggle a bit.
One Cruel Joke for People With Back Pain
What is one of the worst things that could happen to someone with back pain who is looking for some pain relief products at the pharmacy? To have to bend down to the bottom shelf to look at the different products that there are to offer. This pharmacy seems to have thought that was a funny joke to play on people, or maybe they just did it out of ignorance.
Whether it was an intentional and cruel joke or just a stupid, unthoughtful mistake, the irony is hard to miss (and hard to reach for those with back pain).
Too Good to Not Be Intentional
Everyone knows the story of Vincent Van Gogh who cut off his left ear in an angry fit. This person was painting a mug with the likeness of Vincent Van Gogh and during the process, he broke the handle of the mug. Where is the irony in it all? The handle was placed directly where his ear should be, making this a truly accurate portrait of the artist.
The most ironic part of this is that this painting is a Van Gogh-style painting of Van Gogh himself. It seems like this broken handle is almost too coincidental to be an accident.
Things Seems to Be Flipped Here
Once upon a time, there was a world where the children were walked with a lease and the dogs were pushed in a stroller. Things in this part of the world seemed to be a little mixed up and backward. This woman even has a big sign with the name of her dog written on the outside, in bright pink letters. Ironically the children on the leash are also wearing pink.
Although most people frown on parents who attach their children to a leash, in some places, such as big cities, it is extremely useful and ensures that the children are kept safe.
Would You Like a Bite of Anti-Chew Spray?
Dogs, especially puppies, are oftentimes very guilty of chewing on things all throughout the house, usually destroying them and ripping them to shreds. It looks like this family had enough of the chaos and decided to buy a spray that was supposed to keep the dog away from valuables. Does it work, one might ask. Judging just by this picture alone, you would have to say that it does not.
He seems to really be enjoying chewing on the bottle of the anti-chewing spray. Maybe the spray itself does actually work, but the bottle was just too tempting to resist.
How the Times Change
Maybe some of you out there remember the days when this was Apple's main marketing plan. They used slogans just like this one, telling customers "Does more, costs less, It's that simple. Apple". It's clear that times change things, and quickly. Now, even if Apple actually does do more than other electronics, it definitely does not cost less, the exact opposite is true with Apple prices being far more expensive than others.
The branding for Apple here is also so dated (right along with their messaging). At what point did they decide it was better to market along with their current plan?
Cannibalism or Pregnancy in This Dog Eat Dog World?
Somewhere in the world, there was a family sitting around the coffee table playing Monopoly together. The family dog was hanging around them and then suddenly he decided that he wanted to take part in the game playing. He lunged towards the board and grabbed a piece, swallowing it whole. No one had time to realize which piece he had eaten or if he was ok, so they immediately rushed him off to the vet.
When they got to the vet they were surprised to see the results of the x-ray. Of all the pieces he could have eaten, he chose to munch down on the dog piece.
The Best Advertising Placement
Who do you think arrived first in this scenario? Did Fresh look at the Subway next door (along with their advertising) and think to themselves that this would be the perfect opportunity for them. Instead of paying for extra marketing, why not let the neighboring competitor do it for you? With the slogan "Eat fresh", the restaurant Fresh must have gotten quite a tickle out of their comical placement.
Subway probably did not even notice that they were unintentionally giving free advertising to their neighboring competitor. Hopefully, they just thought it was funny once they realized the ironic mistake.
The True Domino Effect
Just about everyone remembers playing with dominos as a child. You would line up all the black and white pieces in long rows and watch with satisfaction as they all tumbled down in their ascetically pleasing way. This picture illustrates the true form of the domino effect, without the dominos. The irony here is that the dominos in this case are motorcycles for Domino's pizza. What is the likelihood of catching a perfect moment like this?
Maybe someone was walking by and just couldn't resist the urge to knock over the first motorcycle in this row of "dominos". Maybe the photographer was the culprit of knocking over the first domino.
The Smokin Store Was on Fire
This store seems like they were almost prophetic with their naming. They called themselves "We B Smokin" as they probably sell cigarettes, cigars, and other similar products. Something must have gone wrong during the day and they may have overdone their enthusiasm for smoking as it looks like something lit on fire and caused the whole store to literally go up in smoke, just as the name suggests.
It must have been almost funny when they called for the fire department to come and help them. "Where are you located?", they were asked. "We b smokin" was their response.
Not Today Satan, Said the Pin
This mother was walking around with her child in the stroller when all of a sudden she noticed that the wheels weren't rolling properly and something just felt a little bit off. After further investigation, she looked at the wheels and found that there was a pin stuck in the wheel of her stroller. The best part is what was written on the pin "Not today Satan". There's no way you couldn't laugh a bit at the sight.
It would be tempting to leave the pin in there at all times just to make sure that every now and then you can see the pin and get a nice little laugh in.
He Certainly Was Trying to Find New Ways
This company has a nice and catchy slogan of "finding new ways". It is not clear what they are finding new ways to ways for but from the looks of it even the company's drivers are following orders completely. This truck seems to have been looking for a new path but in all the wrong ways. He seemed to think it was a good idea to take the more dangerous route.
Hopefully, the driver was safe and healthy after this quest for a new path. From the looks of it, it seems like it was a bit of a dangerous journey.
Thanks for Your Premature Gratitude
It looks like this sign was just a little premature in their gratitude as they thanked drivers for driving carefully. This driver clearly was not driving that safely, despite the sign thanking him for it. Hopefully, they were alive and in good condition after this terrible accident as it looks like a pretty bad situation. The irony of this specific location for the accident seems like a strange twist of fate.
Whoever took this picture obviously has a pretty dark sense of humor. It is almost too horrible to even take a picture of, and yet they did.
He Appears to Be a Little Tired
It looks like this man is experiencing the epitome of irony. While driving a truck full of piles and piles of tires, he happened to get a flat tire. With a defeated (or should it be said, deflated) look, he sat in the back of the truck and stared off into the distance. Although he has countless tires to replace the flat tire, he does not seem to be confident in his ablities.
Maybe, even in the enormous pile of tires in the pack of the truck, there is not even one tire that fits his car, leaving him stranded in the middle of the road.
Can They Escape the Prisoner Transport?
Whoever chose this type of vehicle for prison transport clearly had a very, very dark sense of humor or was completely oblivious. The close proximity of the words is even more comical as you can see the make of the car "escape" written right above the bold lettering of "Prisoner Transport". The truth is that the prisoners will probably never escape from this transport, despite the name of the car.
There has to be a better option for the name of the car in this case. Or are they trying to tell everyone that the prisoners have some secret way to escape?
He Became What He Was Created to Destroy
Most people in the world know that fire extinguishers were created (as the name suggests) to extinguish fires. Who would ever think that it could be possible for the fire extinguisher to literally become a fire? What is someone supposed to do who was counting on using a fire extinguisher to destroy the flame? Now they have no other choice but blankets or buckets of water to hopefully stop this fire in its tracks.
Hopefully, they were able to put out this fire quickly, maybe even with another fire extinguisher (assuming that one did not catch fire as well). How did they even manage to light this extinguisher on fire in the first place?
Apparently They Can't Actually Fix Everything
Why make a claim that you can fix anything and everything and then meanwhile have your a broken doorbell. It doesn't look like you are really able to fix everything when you warn customers to knock loudly on the door since the doorbell is broken. Maybe they are able to fix the doorbell but they just don't want to. Maybe they just want to see how many people will notice the irony.
Maybe they also tried very hard to fix the doorbell, but the problem was out of their hands and beyond their control. It almost seems like they should write that as a disclaimer if they want any customers.
That Is One Audacious Seagull
Even if seagulls were able to read it is unlikely that they would care in the least bit what was written on this box. "DOGS ONLY, NO SEAGULLS!" someone wrote as if the seagulls would heed and understand their warning. They even added an exclamation point along with all capital letters, just to make their point even clearer. This seagull was unphased and continued to dip his head in for some water anyway.
Did the person who created this sign think that there were people walking around offering water to the seagulls? Who was this sign written for in the first place?
They Should Be Shamed by Their English
Nothing screams "completely legitimate" more than an ad for an English teacher that is written in horribly improper English. Even if this person doesn't have the best English in real life they should have at least considered having someone edit this ad before publishing it in the newspaper for everyone to see. It is unlikely that anyone will call this person for English help after reading this advertisement.
The only way someone might consider hiring this English teacher is if their English is even worse than that of the "teachers". In that case, maybe they can at least help even if it's not perfect.
Prime Example of Cleanliness
This restaurant is very proud of the fact that it scored an impressive score of 90-100% at the time of its inspection. However, things seem to have changed and maybe it is time to bring in a new inspector....as can be seen from the very large cockroach crawling right over the certificate. If that doesn't say that maybe they deserve a lesser score on that report, perhaps nothing else can.
This cockroach woke up and decided that it was time to play a little joke on the restaurant, posing from the passing cameras in the perfect location.
It Was Born for This Moment
This Snickers bar seemed to have a very specific purpose from the time of its creation, which it managed to fulfill at this exact moment. No, it would not spend its whole life in a box of chocolates or waiting at the checkout line at a store. It was going to be placed inside a vending machine and when someone went to purchase that bar it would be ready with its message of resistance.
Instead of writing the word "Snickers" across the front of the bar as most other places would, it was ready to fulfill its purpose by writing out DENIED instead.
Don't Want to Sound Too Corny
You wouldn't want to sound too corny, but this seems pretty a-maizing....how is it even possible for a piece of corn to smash through a glass windshield? Granted there was a huge tornado in Kentucky that cause the corn to go wild, but it is still very impressive that one cob of corn was able to puncture the glass windshield of a tractor in such a specific manner. How did the entire windshield not smash to pieces?
Perhaps this is a testament to the strength of these windshields as they are able to withstand the fury of a very strong cob of corn pummeling into it during a tornado.
A Conversation Between Strangers
It looks like someone was such a proud supporter of Trump that they felt the need to put up a picture of his face with a little conversation bubble coming from his mouth with the words "Miss me yet? It also looks like a passerby in the Walmart parking lot where this car was parked couldn't pass without making a comment. They wrote out the word "NO" in big bold print and placed it right underneath, to make their point clear.
No matter what political side you are on, it's hard not to laugh at this comical interaction between these two strangers, both of whom just couldn't keep their opinions to themselves.
Here Are Some Batteries - Gift Not Included
Although this is not necessarily ironic, since it was clearly an intentional and well-thought-out gift, it is still quite funny. It seems like someone was sick and tired of receiving presents that did not include the batteries necessary to operate them. For revenge, they bought the person a package of batteries with the words written on it "gift not included". Even if it is a little cruel, it is certainly funny.
Maybe the joke is on the gift giver at the end of the day as sometimes the batteries are more expensive than the gift itself! And it is such a hassle to go out and buy batteries for a new gift.
Don't Make a Mistake in This Classroom
Although it's quite clear that the teacher in this classroom was attempting to have a nice and inspirational sign for all of their students to see, something went wrong when they realized they needed a place to put the trashcan. The placement could not have been worse though and they ended up with a very dismal message - "Mistakes are proof you are....trash". Judging by the look of the rainbows and happy colors on the sign, this was not the intended message.
What do you think the last word of the sentence was supposed to be (obviously trash was not the intention)? Based off the raining rainbow, perhaps the word "grow" is the best fit.
The Worst Christmas Gift Ever
What could be one of the worst Christmas gifts your boss could possibly give you in 2019? Although he clearly could not have ever imagined what 2020 had in store for everyone his gift of one day to work from home in 2020 proved to be incredibly useless. Most of the world ended up working from home for the majority of 2020 and well into 2022 and working from home even became a huge part of world culture.
It's crazy to think that just a few years ago the concept of being able to work from home was so foreign to the majority of people and now it is almost a given to most.
Run for Earth Day Just to Trash the Environment
It is very popular for people to organize marathons and runs in honor of Earth Day. In this city, they seemed to be among the many that partook in the activities and it seems that they had a very good turnout. Sadly, their actions don't seem to be the most earth-friendly as you can see from this picture. They have hundreds of cups strewn all over the ground, thrown away after just one use by the runners.
Although they do have a cleanup crew come after the run is completed to clean up the mess they made, it is still not particularly environmentally friendly to waste all these single-use cups.
Practice What You Preach
This office supply was very clear with their warnings to their customers - never run out of ink. It looks like their marketing strategy worked as the shelves are completely empty and there isn't even one container left. The irony here is that now the shelves are empty and the store itself seems to be the one that ran out of ink. They should try to refill the shelves soon!
The best thing about this situation is that now everyone knows that this marketing tactic does work...and it works very well. They should try it again and the whole store will be sold out soon!
Irony in a Box - American Freedom Made in China
In case you are looking for some good old American freedom, look no further! This box contains everything that you need. And what's the best part of all? The box (and apparently its contents) was made in China, not exactly the best example of total freedom. This is just one big box of irony...the American freedom that was made in China.
Who ordered some good old American freedom? And who would have thought that they would have to wait for it to be delivered all the way from China?
Stupidity Showing off Stupidity
It looks like this lady has a serious issue with the fashion trend of ripped jeans. What started out as a fad that everyone expected to pass quickly soon became a normal and accepted part of societal fashion. This woman hates it so much that she felt the need to create a sign of a pair of ripped jeans with words saying "this is not fashion, this is stupidity".
What she clearly does not realize is that she is the picture-perfect example of irony. In an attempt to show people how stupid they look, she ended up looking stupid walking around with a literal sign on her back.
Ironic or a Perfect Example?
This little piece of paper has a big message to tell the world, "no job is so simple that it cannot be done wrong." The perfect example of that statement is this little piece of paper itself. What should have been the most simple job to do, to print this quote on the little piece so that it could easily be read, was clearly too difficult for someone to accomplish.
If this was done intentionally it is the perfect example of what is written, but if it was an accident it is the perfect example of irony. Which do you think it is?
Fifty Cents for 50 Cent
50 Cent had to know that one day it would come to this day. There is no way that you can call yourself by such a name and not expect the universe to come back around for a laugh at some point. Although at his prime one of these CDs would sell for a lot more than half a dollar, things change and everything costs less at second-hand stores.
Even if this was actually worth more at the second-hand store, it was probably too tempting for the pricing employee to resist and he had to put the little sticker on charging fifty cents for 50 Cent.
Clearly Not the Best Travel Agent
Everyone knows that dating apps can be a little bit frustrating, to say the least. This exchange seems to be the perfect, most ironic example of exactly that. In an attempt to make conversation, one person asks the other (who is a local) what they should do on their trip to Jamaica. The response is short and rude and they claim that they do not have time for being their tour guide as they have a full-time job.
What is this person's job that keeps them too busy to help? They work as a travel agent.
